In the IPL 2026 match held at New Chandigarh Stadium on Sunday, April 19, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain Rishabh Pant demonstrated exceptional leadership against Punjab Kings (PBKS). The left-handed batsman delivered an impressive performance by hitting two massive sixes off consecutive deliveries from Marco Jansen while chasing a substantial target.

Pant’s powerful hits came during the seventh over of LSG’s innings. On just his second ball, he smashed a fuller-length delivery over wide long-on, resulting in a 79-meter six. The delivery was bowled at a speed of 141.8 kmph by Jansen. Following this, Pant faced a slower ball and dispatched it over the sightscreen for an 89-meter six.

Rishabh Pant and Mitchell Marsh have kept Lucknow Super Giants in contention during their chase of 255 runs against Punjab Kings in the IPL 2026 match. Despite their efforts, the Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab team remains the favorite to win. After 10 overs, LSG stood at 102/1, with Pant scoring 24 off 14 balls and Marsh 39 off 25 balls. The opening partnership of 61 runs was broken by Vijaykumar Vyshak, who dismissed Ayush Badoni for 35 off 21 balls.

Punjab, having batted first, posted a formidable total of 254/7 in their allotted 20 overs, marking the highest score of the current IPL 2026 season, following Royal Challengers Bangalore’s 250 against Chennai Super Kings.

Prabhsimran Singh was out for a golden duck, but his opening partner Priyansh Arya excelled, scoring 93 runs off 37 balls, featuring nine sixes and four boundaries. Cooper Connolly also made a significant contribution with a rapid 87 off 46 balls, including seven sixes and eight fours. Together, Arya and Connolly added 182 runs off 80 balls for the second wicket.

Further contributions came from Marcus Stoinis, Shashank Singh, and Nehal Wadhera, who scored 29 (16), 17 (6), and 13 (7) runs respectively. Prince Yadav was the standout bowler for LSG, with figures of 2/25, although the rest of the bowlers were costly.

Punjab Kings aim to achieve a hat-trick of victories over Lucknow Super Giants, having defeated them twice in IPL 2025.
