Lane Kiffin, the former head coach of Ole Miss, made headlines recently for his appearance at a LSU women’s basketball game alongside coach Kim Mulkey. This event took place while Kiffin’s former team was competing in the Sugar Bowl against the University of Georgia. Despite missing the game, Kiffin showed his support for Ole Miss on social media, congratulating them on their victory.

Kiffin, who recently accepted the head coaching job at LSU, was denied the opportunity to coach Ole Miss through the College Football Playoff. Instead, Pete Golding took over as the permanent head coach. Kiffin’s presence at the basketball game with Mulkey sparked speculation that he might also attend the Sugar Bowl with Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry. While this plan did not come to fruition, Kiffin’s support for his former team remains unwavering.

The victory in the Sugar Bowl not only secured Ole Miss a spot in the semifinals against the University of Miami but also earned Kiffin a $500,000 bonus. Additionally, LSU has agreed to cover Kiffin’s full bonus structure from his Ole Miss contract as part of his exit from the university. If Ole Miss continues to win in the playoffs, Kiffin stands to earn even more financially, with a potential $750,000 bonus for defeating Miami and an additional $1 million if they win the College Football Playoff National Championship.

As the playoff games progress, Kiffin’s involvement with LSU and the financial incentives tied to Ole Miss’s success will continue to be closely watched. Stay tuned for more updates on Kiffin’s coaching career and the exciting developments in college football.
