A mysterious discovery was made near a Brooklyn cemetery when a cardboard box filled with official NYPD uniforms was found, according to police reports. The box, containing pants, shirts, jackets, and hats, was reported to authorities on an industrial street in Borough Park, located between Green-Wood Cemetery and an MTA train yard. Cops examined the contents of the discarded box at the corner of 37th Street and Ninth Avenue, as seen in a video posted on X.
The officers then moved the box to the nearest precinct for safekeeping, nearly 2 miles away on 16th Avenue. An ongoing investigation is in place to determine the origin and reason behind the abandoned uniforms.
Interestingly, this discovery occurred just before the inauguration of Mayor Zohran Mamdani in Manhattan. Some social media users speculated a possible connection between the two events, although no concrete evidence has been presented to support this claim.
Mamdani, known for his criticism of the NYPD, has previously advocated for defunding the police force during the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests. He has been vocal about his views on law enforcement, describing officers as “racist” and “anti-queer.” The discovery of the discarded NYPD uniforms adds another layer of intrigue to the ongoing conversation surrounding police reform and accountability.
