Samsung’s Galaxy S26 smartphones are on the horizon, with the Ultra model expected to receive a notable upgrade in terms of charging capabilities. The transition from 45W to 60W charging was initially seen as a significant improvement for the device. However, recent information suggests that the upgrade may not be as groundbreaking as anticipated.

Reports have surfaced indicating that Samsung’s new 60W charger is already available for purchase. Ice Universe, a reputable source in the tech community, conducted charging tests on the S26 Ultra and revealed that the phone can reach 75% battery capacity in just 30 minutes. While this may seem impressive, comparisons with its predecessor, the S25 Ultra, show that the difference in charging speed is minimal. Under normal conditions, the S25 Ultra was able to achieve a 70% charge in the same timeframe, indicating that the extra 15W may not yield a significant improvement.

It is important to note that the enhanced charging speed is expected to be exclusive to the S26 Ultra model, with the standard S26 and S26+ models maintaining lower charging capacities of 25W and 45W respectively. The exact battery size of the S26 Ultra remains a point of speculation, with rumors suggesting a potential increase to 5200mAh or a continuation of the 5000mAh capacity.

Despite the underwhelming revelations regarding the charging capabilities of the S26 Ultra, there is optimism surrounding potential upgrades in wireless charging technology. Reports suggest that wireless charging on the S26 series could see a jump from 15W to 25W. The inclusion of Qi2 magnetic charging, similar to Apple’s MagSafe technology, is also a possibility. This integration would align Samsung with competitors like Google, whose Pixel 10 series features embedded Qi2 technology, known as Pixelsnap.

The official unveiling of the Galaxy S26 range is scheduled for February 25th, where more details about the devices, including their charging capabilities, will be revealed. As anticipation builds for the launch, tech enthusiasts eagerly await confirmation of the rumored upgrades and improvements in Samsung’s latest flagship smartphones.
