South Korean entertainment powerhouse CJ ENM is making strategic moves to further penetrate the Latin American market by announcing plans to create Spanish-language versions of two upcoming K-dramas. This initiative aims to enhance audience engagement by delivering localized content that resonates with Spanish-speaking viewers in the region.
The two K-dramas in question are “The Practical Guide to Love” and “Our Universe,” both of which will be dubbed in Spanish for wider accessibility. “The Practical Guide to Love,” produced by SLL and starring Han Ji-min and Park Sung-hoon, follows the romantic escapades of a single woman named So Ui-yeon as she navigates the world of blind dates and romantic possibilities. On the other hand, “Our Universe,” produced by Studio Dragon, tells the story of Hyun-jin and Tae-hyung, who find themselves becoming unlikely co-parents after a family tragedy.
Both series offer a unique blend of romance and personal growth, with “The Practical Guide to Love” focusing on universal themes in a lighthearted rom-com format, while “Our Universe” delves into the complexities of relationships and responsibility.
CJ ENM’s Head of Content Distribution Business Unit, Sebastian Kim, expressed excitement about the opportunity to connect with Latin American audiences through these new titles. By localizing the content through Spanish dubbing, the company aims to provide a more immersive viewing experience for viewers in the region.
This Spanish dubbing initiative is part of CJ ENM’s broader strategy to expand its presence in Latin America, where Korean content has been gaining popularity in recent years. The company previously secured a prime-time K-drama slot on Mexico’s Imagen Televisión, marking a significant milestone in Korean drama programming on Mexican broadcast television.
As the Spanish dubbing process nears completion, both “The Practical Guide to Love” and “Our Universe” are set for a swift rollout in the Latin American market, demonstrating CJ ENM’s commitment to delivering high-quality Korean content to audiences across the region.
