Fox‘s upcoming “Baywatch” reboot is on the hunt for a new cast, and they are heading to the beach to find them. The network, in partnership with Fremantle, has announced an open casting call in Los Angeles on Feb. 18 for the upcoming series. They are looking for both actors and non-actors of all ethnicities and genders to audition for various roles, including series regulars, recurring characters, and walk-ons. The available roles range from lifeguards and beachgoers to bartenders, buddies, love interests, rescuers, and rescuees.
The casting call specifies that performers should arrive “Baywatch”-ready, meaning they should wear attire that reflects a beach setting. Additionally, they are advised to maintain a polished and professional appearance and avoid overly revealing styles and costumes. This directive may suggest a departure from the iconic high-cut red swimsuits that the original “Baywatch” was known for, but only time will tell what the new costumes will look like.
The casting call will take place at the Marina Del Rey Marriott, and interested individuals can register on baywatchcastingcall.com. Production for the new “Baywatch” series is scheduled to begin in March on Venice Beach and the Fox lot, with a premiere set for the 2027-2028 season. Showrunner Matt Nix will lead the production team, which includes executive producers Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, Dante Di Loreto, Doug Schwartz, and Mike Horowitz.
The original “Baywatch” was a global phenomenon, reaching over a billion viewers per week in more than 200 countries during its 11-season run from 1989 to 2001. Starring David Hasselhoff, the series started on NBC before transitioning to syndication, with a reunion film airing on Fox in 2003.
Fox Television Network president Michael Thorn expressed excitement about the open casting call, stating, “The ‘Baywatch’ Open Casting Call gives actors a rare opportunity to join the team of an iconic global sensation that celebrates the California spirit and helped define L.A.’s incomparable beach culture. We’re excited to discover fresh faces with authentic SoCal energy as we bring back Baywatch for a new generation of fans.”
Fans of the original series and newcomers alike are eagerly anticipating the revival of “Baywatch” on Fox, and the open casting call presents a unique opportunity for aspiring actors to be part of this beloved franchise. Stay tuned for more updates on the casting process and the production of the new series.
