A shocking case has emerged in Chicago, where a Department of Streets and Sanitation employee has been accused of aiding thieves in stealing multiple vehicles. Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul revealed that Henry Solomon, Jr., a city tow truck driver, allegedly used his position to provide vehicle locations and registration information to individuals who then went on to steal the cars. It is believed that Solomon accepted payment for this information in at least one instance.

The charges against Solomon include unlawful possession of more than three stolen vehicles, three counts of vehicle theft conspiracy, four counts of official misconduct, and three counts of theft. Despite the severity of these allegations, prosecutors did not seek to detain Solomon, who is set to appear in court again on March 12.

Attorney General Raoul expressed his dismay at the situation, stating, “It is especially egregious when an individual charged with working on behalf of the public breaks the law for their own financial gain. I will continue to partner with local law enforcement to hold accountable those who criminally betray the public’s trust.”

This disturbing case highlights the importance of upholding the public’s trust and the consequences of abusing one’s position for personal gain. It serves as a reminder of the responsibility that comes with working in a public service role and the repercussions of betraying that trust.
