Sony Pictures Networks India has recently undergone a restructuring of its leadership team in order to support its transition into a content-driven, multi-lingual entertainment company that values all distribution platforms equally. This move is aimed at breaking down operational barriers between its television networks and SonyLIV streaming platform, ultimately creating a more cohesive business approach.

The reorganization places four key executives in charge of distinct content portfolios, giving them complete control over their channels’ operations. Nachiket Pantvaidya now oversees Sony Entertainment Television, Sony Marathi, and the company’s film production unit, while Ajay Bhalwankar is responsible for Sony SAB, the film channels portfolio, free-to-air offerings, and factual programming. Rajaraman Sundaram will focus on expanding the broadcaster’s presence in southern India, and Ambesh Tiwari will manage Sony AATH and children’s programming.

In terms of streaming operations, SPNI is in the process of recruiting an external candidate to lead this division. Until a decision is made, Gaurav Banerjee will personally oversee the digital side of the business. Additionally, Danish Khan, current business head of SonyLIV and production unit Studio NXT, will be departing from SPNI next month.

On the commercial front, the broadcaster is consolidating its various income sources under the leadership of Rajesh Kaul, who will serve as chief revenue officer. This team will include four newly promoted lieutenants, with responsibilities ranging from television advertising sales to content licensing for SonyLIV.

In corporate functions, Gaurav Laghate will handle external communications, brand management, and public relations, while office management and facility operations will fall under the purview of chief human resources officer Manu Wadhwa.

Gaurav Banerjee, MD & CEO of Sony Pictures Networks India, expressed his excitement for the company’s future growth, highlighting the shift towards a more integrated content strategy across linear and digital platforms. By empowering teams with greater ownership and promoting collaboration, SPNI aims to enhance focus, agility, and execution throughout the organization.

Sony Pictures Networks India operates a diverse portfolio of 28 television channels, reaching over 700 million viewers locally and distributing content to more than 150 countries. As a subsidiary of Sony Group Corporation, Japan, the company continues to innovate and evolve in the ever-changing landscape of entertainment.
