Elon Musk’s X Faces Second Major Outage This Week

Elon Musk’s X is currently experiencing its second large-scale outage this week. Users have reported that the site and app, formerly known as Twitter, are either not loading at all or glitching into life briefly before showing error messages.

The site Down Detector has recorded nearly 80,000 reports of X being down since around 10am eastern time, and the platform is still inaccessible at the time of writing this article.

This outage marks the second major technical issue at X this week. The platform has come under scrutiny recently after it was discovered that Grok, xAI’s chatbot integrated into X, was fulfilling user requests to manipulate real photos of women and children into nonconsensual sexual and violent imagery.

When Musk took over Twitter in 2022, he made significant staff reductions, leading to concerns about the platform’s ability to function normally and effectively moderate harmful content. While the site has mostly remained operational, there have been noticeable outages in the past year.
