According to a recent regulatory filing, Netflix disclosed that it acquired InterPositive, a startup co-founded by actor and director Ben Affleck, for $587 million in cash.

The acquisition, announced in March, included a statement from Affleck, emphasizing his desire to “protect the power of human creativity.” He explained that InterPositive’s AI tools are designed to assist filmmakers in enhancing their footage during post-production, specifically addressing challenges like missing shots, background replacements, or incorrect lighting.

At the time of the announcement, Netflix stated that the entire InterPositive team would be integrated into the company, with Affleck assuming the role of a senior advisor. Although the financial details were initially undisclosed, a Bloomberg report later suggested that the transaction might be valued at up to $600 million.

In its latest earnings report, Netflix revealed that approximately 300 of its titles have already utilized generative AI.
