Her family was initially against her decision to take on the job, especially with the early 6am starts in Roxburgh. But Donna never looked back and quickly fell in love with her job. She faced challenges like learning to ride a motorbike and adapting to the increasing number and size of parcels over the years.
From starting with mostly letters to now delivering heavy meal kits, Donna’s trusty yellow car, Buttercup, became a familiar sight in town. She got to know the residents along her route, even going the extra mile to help out when needed.
As she prepares to retire from her role, Donna recalls some memorable moments, like delivering a Royal mail package to a centenarian and bringing joy to residents with her Santa hat and lollies on Christmas Eve. While she may consider another job in the future, her priority is spending time with her grandson Reggie.
Donna’s dedication to her community and her role as a postie is truly commendable, and her presence will surely be missed in Roxburgh.
