Green Day, a band hailing from the Bay Area, has been chosen to kick off the opening ceremony of Super Bowl LX, as announced by the NFL on Sunday. The event will take place at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California on Sunday, February 8, 2026.

The band is set to open Super Bowl LX by performing their most iconic rock anthems as they usher in generations of Super Bowl MVPs onto the field. Lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong expressed his excitement, stating, “We are super hyped to open Super Bowl 60 right in our backyard! We are honored to welcome the MVPs who’ve shaped the game and open the night for fans all over the world. Let’s have fun! Let’s get loud!”

Fans can catch the Super Bowl LX opening ceremony live at 6 p.m. ET/ 3 p.m. PT on NBC, Telemundo, Peacock, and Universo. Tim Tubito, NFL senior director of event and game presentation, emphasized the significance of celebrating 60 years of Super Bowl history with a hometown band like Green Day, while also honoring the NFL Legends who have made their mark on the sport.

In addition to Green Day’s performance, the pregame entertainment lineup will include Charlie Puth singing the national anthem, Brandi Carlile performing “America the Beautiful,” and Coco Jones delivering “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” This star-studded lineup promises to create a memorable and engaging opening ceremony for fans both in the stadium and watching from around the world.

As the NFL collaborates with NBC Sports for this event, they aim to create a collective celebration that resonates with fans everywhere. The combination of music, entertainment, and football legends is sure to set the stage for an unforgettable start to Super Bowl LX.
