Five individuals have been apprehended in connection with the shooting of a judge and his wife in Indiana, with one of the suspects having an active felony case in the judge’s court. The suspects, identified as Thomas Moss, Blake Smith, Amanda Milsap, Raylen Ferguson, and Zenada Greer, are facing multiple charges following the incident at the home of Tippecanoe County Judge Steven Meyer and his wife, Kim Meyer.

The motive behind the shooting has not been disclosed, but it has been revealed that Moss is currently involved in a case in Judge Meyer’s court, which includes charges such as domestic violence, intimidation, and possession of a weapon as a violent felon. The shooting left Judge Meyer, 66, injured in the arm, and his wife Kim with a gunshot wound to the hip. Both are recuperating in a local hospital.

According to reports, the suspects knocked on the door of the couple’s home claiming to have their dog before firing a shot through the door. Moss, Ferguson, and Smith have been charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery, and intimidation with a deadly weapon, with additional gang and firearm enhancements. Moss and Smith have also been labeled as “habitual offenders.”

Milsap is facing charges of bribery and obstruction of justice, while Greer has been charged with aiding a criminal and obstruction of justice. The Lafayette Police Department commended the collaborative effort of multiple agencies that led to the arrests of the suspects.

Despite the traumatic experience, Judge Meyer expressed his determination to continue serving on the bench. He stated, “This horrific violence will not shake my belief in the importance of peacefully resolving disputes. I remain confident we have the best judicial system in the world, and I am proud to be a part of it.”

There were no prior threats against Judge Meyer or any previous 911 calls from his residence, according to the police. The investigation into the shooting continues as the suspects remain in custody.
