In a tragic incident in Minneapolis, ICE officials fatally shot a man on Saturday. This individual was reportedly a legal gun owner, and unverified footage suggests he was unarmed at the time of the shooting.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has shown a reluctance to cooperate with local authorities. According to CNN , local police were blocked from accessing the scene of the tragedy:

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara reported that federal agents attempted to restrict local law enforcement from entering the area after the shooting.

O’Hara instructed his officers to remain at the site to follow standard procedures for preserving evidence post-shooting.

One must ponder: if this shooting was indeed justified and in self-defense, why the hesitance to allow local law enforcement access to the scene?

Protests in Minneapolis are intensifying, with citizens voicing their opposition to ICE’s actions:

Next week presents a pivotal moment for Congress, as the Senate prepares to vote on funding for the Department of Homeland Security.

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is advocating for the Senate to reject funding for ICE.

AOC shared her sentiments on X:

“Americans are being killed in the streets by their government. Our Constitution is being shredded, and our rights are eroding.”

“We must resist. Senate Democrats should block ICE funding this week. It’s time to activate the National Guard.”

“We can and must put a stop to this.”

Every moment is crucial, and Senate Democrats have a significant opportunity to take action. The suggestion to mobilize the National Guard is particularly noteworthy and merits further consideration.
