In breaking news, the National Transportation Safety Board has launched an investigation into Waymo after reports of its robotaxis illegally passing stopped school buses in multiple states. This development highlights the importance of ensuring the safety and compliance of autonomous vehicles on the road.

Moving on to Tesla, the company has been making significant moves in the automated driving technology space. Recently, Tesla offered robotaxi rides in Austin without a human safety driver in the front seat, showcasing the advancements in its Full Self-Driving Supervised software. This move signals Tesla’s progress towards fully autonomous driving capabilities.

In a surprising turn of events, Tesla has decided to discontinue its Autopilot system, a popular driver-assistance feature in its vehicles. This decision comes as Tesla shifts its focus towards its more advanced Full Self-Driving technology, which offers enhanced autonomous driving capabilities.

The decision to phase out Autopilot and transition to a subscription-based model for Full Self-Driving software is part of Tesla’s strategy to increase revenue and position itself as a leader in AI and robotics. However, it also comes amidst legal challenges, including a suspension of its manufacturing and dealer licenses in California.

In other news, Zipline, an autonomous drone-delivery startup, has secured $600 million in funding to expand its operations in the US. The company, known for its drone delivery services in Rwanda, is now venturing into new markets and aims to revolutionize the delivery of essential goods.

Additionally, several other notable deals have caught our attention, including ABZ Innovation’s funding round for heavy-duty drones, Ethernovia’s Series B financing for Ethernet-based systems in autonomous vehicles, and Serve Robotics’ acquisition of Diligent Robotics in the healthcare robotics space.

As the industry continues to evolve, companies like Geely Holding Group and General Motors are setting ambitious goals for the future, including plans for robotaxis and domestic production shifts. Tesla is also gearing up to restart work on its Dojo3 AI chip for space-based AI compute applications.

In a final highlight, Alex Roy’s recent cross-country journey in a Tesla Model S equipped with Full Self-Driving technology showcases the advancements in autonomous driving capabilities. The successful completion of the 3,081-mile journey demonstrates the potential of autonomous vehicles in long-distance travel.
