New Japan Pro-Wrestling has officially announced the departure of one of its top stars, EVIL, who is reportedly on his way to WWE. The CEO and president of NJPW, Takaaki Kidani, expressed his sentiments regarding EVIL’s decision not to renew his contract, which is set to expire on January 3.

In a heartfelt post on social media, Kidani thanked EVIL for his contributions to the company, especially highlighting his memorable performances as a 14-time NJPW champion. The departure of the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion marks the end of an era in NJPW, as fans bid farewell to a beloved wrestler who has achieved great success in the promotion.

EVIL’s impressive resume includes being a former IWGP Intercontinental Champion, a two-time IWGP Tag Team Champion, a four-time NEVER Openweight Champion, and a six-time NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Champion. His departure from NJPW has sparked speculation about his future in WWE, with reports suggesting that he is set to join the biggest wrestling company in the world.

According to reports from Wrestling Observer Live, EVIL’s potential move to WWE has been heavily rumored, with his contract expiration at the end of January fueling the speculation. It remains to be seen if NJPW will allow EVIL to make an appearance at the Royal Rumble, should he officially sign with WWE.

In addition to EVIL, other NJPW stars like Gabe Kidd, David Finlay, Hiromu Takahashi, and Sanada are also reportedly on WWE’s radar. The wrestling landscape is constantly evolving, with talent moving between promotions and creating new opportunities for themselves in the industry.
