The Reign of the “King of Everything” Continues
The entertainment world was stunned by the recent news of the passing of the king, but fear not, for a new era is set to begin with the upcoming feature film dedicated to one of the beloved side characters from the hit show “Queen of Fucking Everything”. Finnish director and screenwriter Tiina Lymi, the creative genius behind the series, shared her excitement about the project during an interview with Variety at Goteborg, where “Queen” is currently nominated for the Nordic Series Script Award. Collaborating with Juha Lehtola of East Film, Lymi has crafted a script that promises to delve deep into themes of responsibility, guilt, and the consequences of one’s actions.
Describing the film as a departure from the expected, Lymi explained, “It’s about a man who vanished. When a woman is insecure, she hurts only herself – a man in the same position hurts everybody around him. He hasn’t grown up and he’s obviously not really a ‘King of Fucking Everything’. Once again, it’s an ironic title.” The film is a personal project for Lymi, drawing inspiration from her own experiences and reflections on the impact of abandonment.
As fans eagerly await the release of the feature film, the second season of “Queen” is also in the works, continuing the gripping story of Linda, a real estate agent who turns to a life of crime after her husband disappears, leaving her in financial turmoil. The show has received critical acclaim in Finland, winning five Golden Venla awards, including best drama series and best screenplay and director for Lymi.
Reflecting on the success of “Queen”, Lymi remarked, “I don’t have an explanation for why people seem to love the show, but the main thing is that I never do something that already exists. Also, all the characters are relatable, even though they are crazy and terrible. Nobody is just good or bad. Everyone is both, like we all are.”
With a keen eye for complex and multifaceted characters, Lymi has established herself as a master storyteller, unafraid to tackle challenging themes and push the boundaries of conventional storytelling. Her upcoming projects, including the TV series “The Punisher,” promise to continue this trend, exploring the depths of human emotion and behavior through the lens of compelling female protagonists.
As she embarks on new creative endeavors, Lymi remains committed to portraying the complexities of women’s experiences and challenging societal norms. Through her work, she shines a light on the struggles and triumphs of women in a world that often seeks to diminish their voices.
As the “King of Fucking Everything” takes his final bow, the stage is set for a new ruler to emerge, one who will continue to captivate audiences with stories of love, loss, and redemption. Long live the king, and long live the legacy of Tiina Lymi, the true queen of storytelling.
