Netflix’s “Skyscraper Live,” featuring Alex Honnold’s free solo climb of the Taipei 101 tower in Taiwan, has garnered an impressive 6.2 million views. Originally scheduled to air on Friday, Jan. 23, the climb was postponed due to bad weather concerns, taking place the next night instead. Despite the delay, the stream managed to climb its way to the No. 3 spot on the Netflix English language TV Top 10 for the week of Jan. 19-25.

In a post-climb interview with Variety, Honnold revealed that the climb itself and the weather were not the sources of stress for him. He emphasized that climbing is always subject to nature’s whims, with factors like temperature, wind, and rain dictating the experience. The only added stress came from the live broadcast aspect, considering the logistical challenges of rescheduling the event and accommodating the crew’s needs.

The top spots on the Netflix English language TV chart were claimed by “His & Hers” and “Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials,” pulling in 17.2 million and 8.7 million views, respectively. Other notable entries included “Finding Her Edge” at No. 4 with 5.5 million views, and Bert Kreischer’s comedy series “Free Bert” making its debut at No. 8 with 3.2 million views.

On the English language film chart, “The Rip,” led by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, maintained its reign at No. 1 with 40.4 million views. James Bond films “No Time to Die” and “Spectre” also made appearances at No. 3 and No. 7, following the recent addition of the Bond film library to Netflix’s streaming lineup on Jan. 15.
