COL Group International has officially launched its Zhuhai-Macau production studio, ushering in a new era of production capabilities for the company. The studio, which covers an impressive 220,000 square meters, boasts 170,000 square meters of production space spread across 94 indoor and outdoor sets. This expansion signals a strategic move to accommodate the growing demand for both traditional television dramas and microdrama content in Asian markets.

TVB’s popular drama “City of Splendour” and Mango TV’s “He Will Return Before Dawn” are the first projects to kick off production at the newly operational studio. “City of Splendour,” a business drama revolving around a power struggle within a luxury hotel empire, features a star-studded cast including Julian Cheung, Ron Ng, and Samantha Ko. On the other hand, “He Will Return Before Dawn,” a microdrama based on a web novel, stars Bevan Bi and Zhang Miaoyi in the lead roles.

In addition to these projects, the studio will also cater to original content for FlareFlow, COL’s microdrama platform. This move underscores COL Group International’s commitment to developing an integrated content ecosystem that spans production, IP development, platform operations, and distribution.

Timothy Oh, the general manager of COL Group International, emphasized the company’s holistic approach to content creation and distribution. “We’re not just in the business of platforms and distribution,” he stated. “We’re here to support our partners at every stage of the content value chain, from IP development to marketing strategies.”

The studio’s infrastructure has been specifically designed to facilitate parallel shoots and quick set turnovers, ensuring efficient production processes for both microdrama formats and premium scripted television. COL Group International is actively seeking partnerships with broadcasters, streaming platforms, and content producers across Greater China and the broader Asia-Pacific region.
