Apple TV has just announced the highly anticipated return of Jason Sudeikis to AFC Richmond in the upcoming fourth season of “Ted Lasso.” Fans can expect the new season to debut globally this summer, with the streaming service also sharing new stills and plot details.
The fourth season of “Ted Lasso” is currently in production and will see the return of Sudeikis, who also serves as an executive producer on the show. Joining him are Emmy winner Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Emmy winner Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt, and Jeremy Swift. The new signings for this season include Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsey, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern, and Grant Feely.
In this upcoming season, Ted Lasso will be facing his biggest challenge yet as he takes on the role of coaching a second division women’s football team at Richmond. The synopsis teases that throughout the season, Ted and the team will learn to take chances they never thought they would, leaping before they look.
Adding to the excitement, Emmy winner Jack Burditt has come on board as an executive producer for season four under a new overall deal with Apple TV. The show stars Sudeikis and executive producers Brendan Hunt, Joe Kelly, Jane Becker, Jamie Lee, and Bill Wrubel. Goldstein serves as a writer and executive producer alongside Leanne Bowen. Sarah Walker and Phoebe Walsh will be writers and producers for the new season, with Sasha Garron as a co-producer. Julia Lindon will also be writing for season four, and Dylan Marron will serve as a story editor.
The series is produced by Bill Lawrence through his Doozer Productions, in association with Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television, a division of NBCUniversal Content. Doozer’s Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer also serve as executive producers. “Ted Lasso” was developed by Sudeikis, Lawrence, Kelly, and Hunt, based on preexisting format and characters from NBC Sports.
After its global debut on Apple TV, “Ted Lasso” quickly became a record-breaking hit, earning the title of the most Emmy-nominated comedy series for its first season. The show went on to win consecutive outstanding comedy series Emmys for its first two seasons.
