I Missed You, Pixel 10 Pro XL

I Missed You, Pixel 10 Pro XL

I recently made the switch back to the Pixel 10 Pro XL after being away for three months, and I can’t help but wonder why I didn’t do it sooner. After thoroughly testing and enjoying Google’s latest flagship for my review in August, I continued using it as my primary phone for a few more weeks. However, as a phone reviewer, I had to switch to other devices like the Motorola Edge 70 and the Poco F8 Ultra.

The Poco F8 Ultra, while impressive in terms of value, had some significant drawbacks, especially on the software side. Despite my growing frustration with it, I continued using it for over five weeks after my review was published. There was no particular reason for my delay in switching back to the Pixel 10 Pro XL; I simply couldn’t be bothered.

Since returning to the Pixel 10 Pro XL last week, I have noticed several key benefits and realized how much I had missed it. Here are five ways in which it has enhanced my life, along with one significant drawback that may not make it suitable for everyone.

### A Sigh of Software Relief

Returning to the Pixel software felt like coming home after a long journey. The familiar user interface, lack of bloatware, and exclusive Pixel features like Now Playing and Call Screen make it a joy to use. The AI features on the Pixel are among the best in the industry, offering a seamless and intuitive user experience.

### An Underrated Design

While the Poco F8 Ultra had an eye-catching design, I have come to appreciate the understated elegance of the Pixel 10 Pro XL. Its sleek and classy design, coupled with a matt coating on the rear and IP68 water and dust resistance, make it a durable and attractive choice.

### Oh, Those Cameras…

The Pixel 10 Pro XL’s camera system may not be the absolute best on the market, but it excels in delivering reliable and high-quality photos in various settings. From the main lens to the telephoto and ultrawide lenses, the camera system offers versatility and consistency in capturing moments.

### 3D Face Unlock FTW!

The Pixel 10 Pro XL’s 3D face unlock feature is fast, reliable, and seamless, allowing for secure authentication and easy access to the phone. While it also has a fingerprint scanner, the face unlock feature is the standout choice for quick and convenient access.

### Poor Performance? Says Who?

Despite concerns about the performance of Google’s Tensor G5 chipset, the real-world experience of using the Pixel 10 Pro XL has been fast, responsive, and reliable for everyday tasks. While benchmarks may suggest a performance gap compared to other flagship devices, the Pixel 10 Pro XL has met my performance needs without any issues.

### A Heavyweight Phone – Literally

One downside of the Pixel 10 Pro XL is its weight, which can make it uncomfortable for extended one-handed use. At 232g, it is one of the heavier non-folding phones on the market. However, the overall benefits of the device may outweigh this drawback for some users.

In conclusion, the Pixel 10 Pro XL has proven to be a near-perfect reintroduction for me. With its impressive display, fast charging capabilities, and overall performance, it remains a top contender in the smartphone market. As we look ahead to 2026, upcoming devices like the Galaxy S26 and Pixel 11 are likely to challenge its position as one of the best phones available.
