Actor James Van Der Beek has bravely shared that he has been diagnosed with colorectal cancer. In a recent interview with People magazine, the “Dawson’s Creek” star opened up about his private battle with the disease, stating that he has been receiving treatment with the support of his family. Despite the challenging diagnosis, Van Der Beek remains optimistic about his prognosis and is feeling positive about the future.

Colorectal cancer, which originates in the colon or rectum, is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers in both men and women in the United States. According to the American Cancer Society, about 1 in 23 men and 1 in 25 women will be diagnosed with this form of cancer in their lifetime. It is crucial for individuals to undergo regular screenings and tests for early detection and treatment.

Aside from his role as Dawson Leery on “Dawson’s Creek,” Van Der Beek has appeared in various television series and films, including “Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23,” “Friends With Better Lives,” and “CSI: Cyber.” He has also starred in movies such as “Varsity Blues,” “The Rules of Attraction,” and “Labor Day.”

In an effort to raise awareness for prostate, testicular, and colorectal cancer testing and research, Van Der Beek will be participating in Fox’s upcoming special, “The Real Full Monty.” The show, inspired by the 1997 film “The Full Monty,” will feature male celebrities like Anthony Anderson, Taye Diggs, and Tyler Posey performing a strip-tease dance in front of a live audience. The special is set to premiere on December 9th on Fox.
