Disney+ has officially announced that “Made In Korea” has become the most-watched Korean original premiere on the streaming platform in 2025 across the Asia-Pacific region. This achievement is based on the viewership numbers recorded within 28 days of its release on December 24.

The crime noir series is set in 1970s Korea and follows the story of Baek Kitae, played by Hyun Bin, who is a Korean Central Intelligence Agency operative leading a double life as both a government agent and a smuggler. As he navigates his way through illicit operations to climb the ranks within the agency while protecting his brother, he faces opposition from an incorruptible prosecutor, portrayed by Jung Woosung, leading to a high-stakes confrontation between the two.

In addition to Hyun Bin and Jung Woosung, the series also features Woo Dohwan as Kitae’s brother, Baek Kihyun. Park Eunkyo and Park Joonseok are the writers of the series, with Woo Minho serving as the director. The production company behind the series is Hive Media Corp.

Due to its success, Disney+ has already given the green light for a second season of “Made In Korea,” with production already underway. The renewal was announced at Disney+’s originals preview event held at Hong Kong Disneyland in 2025.

The popularity of “Made In Korea” adds to Disney+’s successful year in the region, with the platform releasing over a dozen APAC series including “Hyper Knife,” “Tempest,” “The Manipulated,” “Nine Puzzles,” and the second season of “Gannibal.”

The main cast members of the series, including Hyun Bin, Jung Woosung, and Woo Dohwan, have impressive acting credits to their names, having starred in various successful projects in the past. Director Woo Minho, known for his work on “The Man Standing Next” and “Inside Men,” brings his expertise to the series, while Hive Media Corp, the production company, has a track record of producing successful films such as “12.12: The Day.”
