A manhunt is underway after eight inmates managed to escape from the Riverbend Detention Center in northeast Louisiana. Three of the escaped inmates are facing murder charges, making the situation even more urgent.
The Louisiana State Police have confirmed that the escapees, all considered to be “violent offenders,” were reported missing from the detention center at 1:20 a.m. Five of the inmates are still at large, namely Destin Brogan, Kelin Looney, Krisean Salinas, Kevin Slaughter, and Koplelon Vicknair. On the other hand, Hugo Molino, Trenton Taplin, and Savon Wheeler have been captured following their escape.
In response to the escape, Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill has reached out to East Carroll Parish Sheriff Wydette Williams and Louisiana Sheriffs’ Association President Kevin Cobb, offering the full support of her office, including the Fugitive Apprehension Unit.
The East Carroll Parish Sheriff’s Office has requested the assistance of the Louisiana State Police Detectives–Monroe Field Office in locating and apprehending the fugitives.
