Dr. Peter Attia, recently named as a CBS News contributor, is facing backlash following the release of new documents from the Jeffrey Epstein files. These documents reveal over 1,700 mentions of Attia and evidence of a close relationship with the convicted sex offender. Despite Epstein’s criminal charges, Attia maintained a friendly connection with him, as indicated in emails where he expressed missing Epstein when they were apart.

CBS News has not yet provided a statement regarding Attia’s position as a contributor. Known for his expertise in human longevity and anti-aging techniques, Attia was one of 19 new contributors announced by CBS News as part of a network-wide revamp led by editor-in-chief Bari Weiss. Attia is recognized for founding Outlive, an app translating longevity science into daily practices, and Early Medical, a practice focusing on extending lifespan and improving healthspan. He also hosts a popular podcast, “The Peter Attia Drive,” and authored the bestseller “Outlive: The Science and Art of Longevity.”

In a “60 Minutes” segment last year, Attia discussed his strategies for maintaining quality of life in older age, emphasizing exercise, protein intake, and early diagnostics. While some contributors named by Weiss specialize in health and wellness research, they may advocate for ideas that diverge from mainstream scientific opinions. For instance, Mark Hyman, a physician involved in food and agriculture policy reform, supports controversial health policies proposed by U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert Kennedy. Hyman promotes the “pegan diet,” which limits nutrient-dense foods like beans and whole grains. Andrew Huberman, a science podcaster, has faced criticism for endorsing dietary supplements.

It remains to be seen how CBS News will address the controversy surrounding Attia’s connection to Jeffrey Epstein. As the network continues its transformation under Weiss’ leadership, the inclusion of diverse viewpoints on health and wellness topics may spark debate among viewers and experts alike.
