Netflix Announces New Animated Spinoff: “Stranger Things: Tales From ’85”
Don’t say goodbye to Hawkins just yet. Although the main “Stranger Things” series has come to an end with its fifth season, Netflix is keeping the excitement alive with a brand new animated adventure.
Netflix has recently released the trailer and premiere date for “Stranger Things: Tales From ’85,” the highly anticipated animated spinoff created by showrunner Eric Robles and executive producers, the Duffer Brothers.
The series is set to premiere on April 23, marking the franchise’s first venture into animation and ensuring that fans continue to enjoy fresh stories from Hawkins even after the main series concludes.
Broadway star Jeremy Jordan (“Supergirl,” “Newsies”) will lend his voice to the character of Steve Harrington in the series. Set during a harsh snowstorm in the winter of 1985, between Seasons 2 and 3 of the main series, “Tales From ’85” follows Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Max as they navigate what seems to be a peaceful winter break filled with snowball fights and Dungeons & Dragons sessions. However, when a mysterious threat emerges from beneath the snow-covered streets of Hawkins, the young heroes must uncover its source and save their town once again.
The voice cast includes Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max, Luca Diaz as Mike, Elisha “EJ” Williams as Lucas, Braxton Quinney as Dustin, Benjamin Plessala as Will, and Brett Gipson as Hopper. Odessa A’zion, Janeane Garofalo, and Lou Diamond Phillips also join the ensemble cast. Animation for the series is being handled by Flying Bark Productions.
Executive producers for “Stranger Things: Tales From ’85” include the Duffer Brothers, Eric Robles, Hilary Leavitt via Upside Down Pictures, Shawn Levy via 21 Laps, and Dan Cohen.
