The Earth is indeed a living being, but that does not mean we are not responsible for the damage we are causing. We have contributed to the increase in destructive storms, rising temperatures, and climate change through our actions. It is our responsibility to acknowledge this and take action to mitigate the harm we have caused. Blaming the Earth or downplaying the impact of human activities is not a solution to the crisis we are facing.

Sarah Thompson
Dunedin

The primary factor contributing to climate-related disasters is the human population and our constant desire to travel, construct, consume, and purchase the latest technology.

With a global population of approximately 8 billion, far exceeding the sustainable limit of 1 billion, overpopulation is intensifying natural environmental challenges rather than initiating them.
