Kiefer Sutherland’s DUI Troubles: A Look Back
Similar to Gary Oldman, Kiefer Sutherland has faced multiple legal issues related to driving under the influence. Over the years, the renowned A Few Good Men actor has encountered at least six DUI-related incidents, with the earliest dating back to 1989.
His first arrest occurred in 1993, followed by another in 2004. However, it was in 2007 that Sutherland faced significant consequences after being apprehended for DUI once again. This time, he was stopped for making an illegal U-turn after leaving the FOX Fall Eco-Casino party at Area nightclub. A breathalyzer test revealed that his blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit of .08, leading to his arrest on a misdemeanor DUI charge.
Following a no-contest plea, Sutherland spent over 40 days in jail as a result of this incident. Despite this experience, in 2017, he found himself in a similar predicament when he failed a sobriety test after making an illegal U-turn in Hollywood. Subsequently, he was taken into custody and later released on $25,000 bail.
Reflecting on his struggles with alcohol, Sutherland admitted in a 2016 interview that he had grappled with the decision to give up drinking. He acknowledged the challenges but expressed his commitment to working hard to maintain a balance in his life.
