NBC is gearing up to celebrate its first hundred years with a new tagline, “NBC100,” and promo spots set to debut during the Winter Olympics opening ceremony and the Super Bowl weekend. The network’s chief marketing officer, Jenny Storms, describes the anniversary as a celebration for both NBC and its viewers, encapsulated in the tagline “A Century Together.”
The promotional spots, titled “Kinetic” and “In My Life,” pay homage to NBC’s roots as a radio network established by RCA in 1926. The commercials highlight iconic moments and phrases from the network’s history, focusing mainly on more recent decades. Storms emphasizes the importance of celebrating the collective memories created through generational viewership, showcasing beloved shows like “Star Trek,” “Friends,” “Saturday Night Live,” and more.
While the initial spots may have missed some key moments in NBC’s history, Storms assures that there will be more opportunities to explore the network’s legacy in future campaigns. The “NBC100” celebration will extend throughout the year, with special events planned for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, FIFA World Cup, NBA, WNBA, and other major sporting and entertainment events.
As part of “Legendary February,” NBC will use the Super Bowl and Winter Olympics to promote upcoming shows and events, including the premiere of “The ‘Burbs” on Peacock and the second season of “Ted.” Additionally, Telemundo will air a promo during the Super Bowl featuring Owen Wilson to promote its coverage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The network’s centennial celebration culminates in a special “NBC100” broadcast later this year, offering a comprehensive look back at NBC’s rich history. With a lineup of exciting events and programming planned, NBC’s 100th anniversary promises to be a memorable and nostalgic journey for viewers old and new.
