The Los Angeles Rams are set to make history by playing the first-ever NFL game in Australia next season. The NFL recently announced that the Rams will face off against division rival, the San Francisco 49ers, in Melbourne as part of a record nine overseas games scheduled for the 2026 season. This exciting matchup will take place at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground, with the Rams serving as the home team.

While discussing the upcoming game on the “Real Ones: The League” podcast, Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua couldn’t help but throw a playful jab at the team’s fanbase. Nacua questioned the decision to send two teams located just an hour away from each other all the way to Australia for a game, jokingly mentioning his love for kangaroos but expressing a desire to play closer to home.

In the same podcast, Nacua and 49ers linebacker Fred Warner bantered back and forth about the logistics of the international game. Warner pointed out that the Rams were losing a home game by playing in Australia, to which Nacua humorously responded that there aren’t many true home games for the Rams at SoFi Stadium anyway.

Despite the playful banter, Nacua made it clear where his loyalty lies when it comes to the Super Bowl. The young receiver expressed his unwavering support for Rams star wide receiver Cooper Kupp, stating that he will be cheering for Kupp and the Rams while firmly declaring that he will not be rooting for the Seattle Seahawks.

Nacua’s admiration for Kupp runs deep, as the veteran receiver played a crucial role in mentoring Nacua after he was drafted by the Rams in 2023. Throughout his first few NFL seasons, Nacua has consistently praised Kupp for his guidance and leadership on and off the field.

As the Rams gear up for their historic trip to Australia and the upcoming NFL season, Nacua’s playful banter and unwavering support for his teammates showcase the camaraderie and competitive spirit within the team. With the excitement building for the international game in Melbourne, fans can look forward to a thrilling matchup between two fierce division rivals on foreign soil.
