In a shocking development in a long-standing mystery, a man has been arrested for the murder of a young woman whose body was discovered naked in a drainage ditch almost three decades ago.
63-year-old Brian Walton has been accused of killing 23-year-old Claudia Guevara back in 1996, as per the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
Guevara went missing in February of 1996 after being left at a bus stop in El Monte. Her body, unclothed and showing signs of sexual assault and a neck wound, was discovered the following day.
Forensic evidence, including DNA, connected Walton to the crime, despite allegedly having no prior acquaintance with Guevara.
