Thanksgiving Burglary at Saks Fifth Avenue

Three individuals found themselves in police custody on Thanksgiving morning after attempting an early morning burglary at Saks Fifth Avenue on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile. Their impulsive decision to engage in criminal activity for holiday shopping left them facing legal consequences.

The incident unfolded late Wednesday night when the trio broke into the upscale department store located at 700 North Michigan Avenue. Eager to get their hands on luxury goods, the individuals forcibly entered the premises, triggering an alarm that alerted store security.

Upon receiving the report, law enforcement swiftly responded to the scene, surrounding the building and commencing a thorough search with the assistance of store security personnel. Two of the suspects were apprehended inside the store, leading to the initiation of clearance operations around 12:40 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning.

However, just as authorities were concluding their activities, a third perpetrator was spotted exiting the building and heading towards Superior Street via Michigan Avenue. Real-time surveillance facilitated the swift arrest of the third burglar near Rush and Huron, ensuring that all individuals involved in the criminal act were accounted for.

Charges were pending for the group, highlighting the consequences of their ill-advised attempt at holiday shopping through unlawful means. As they await legal proceedings, it is likely that their Thanksgiving dinner will consist of a humble taxpayer-funded meal.
