The New Orleans Saints suffered a devastating 23-22 loss to the Carolina Panthers, extending their losing streak to seven games. As a result, head coach Dennis Allen was fired on Monday, making him the second head coach to be let go this season after Robert Saleh of the New York Jets.

Allen had a record of 18-25 in 2 1/2 seasons with the Saints, failing to make it through his third season for the second time in his coaching career. In 2014, he was also fired by the Oakland Raiders after just four games into his third year with the team. With a career record of 26-53 as a head coach, Allen’s departure was not entirely unexpected.

As the NFL season reaches its midway point, the firing of Allen is unlikely to be the last coaching change. With nine teams having only two victories each and fifteen teams holding losing records, more coaches could be on the hot seat in the coming weeks.

One coach facing scrutiny is Jacksonville Jaguars’ head coach Pederson, whose team has seen a significant decline after making the playoffs just two seasons ago. With quarterback Trevor Lawrence struggling and the defense underperforming, Pederson’s future with the team looks uncertain.

Another coach feeling the heat is Antonio Pierce of the Las Vegas Raiders. Despite a promising finish to last season, Pierce has faced challenges with game management and recently made changes to his coaching staff after just nine games. With doubts about his ability to lead the team, Pierce’s job security is in question.

Kevin Stefanski of the Cleveland Browns is also under pressure, as the team has regressed in 2024. With quarterback Deshaun Watson out for the season and the defense struggling, Stefanski’s play-calling decisions have come under scrutiny. A coaching change could be on the horizon for the Browns if their poor performance continues.

In addition to these coaches, others like Matt Eberflus of the Chicago Bears, Mike McDaniel of the Miami Dolphins, Jerod Mayo of the New England Patriots, Dave Canales of the Carolina Panthers, and Brian Callahan of the Tennessee Titans are also facing challenges. Each coach must navigate their team through a difficult season and prove their ability to lead in the NFL.

As the season progresses, the pressure will only increase for coaches on the hot seat. With the NFL landscape constantly evolving, teams will be looking for strong leadership to guide them through adversity and towards success.
