Jay Leno Praises Election as “A Great Day for Democracy”
Jay Leno, while not being Donald Trump’s biggest fan, has commended the recent election as “a great day for democracy.”
During a recent appearance on “The Talk,” the comedian shared his thoughts on Trump’s victory over Vice President Kamala Harris. Leno expressed, “The nice thing about this election is, it was fair, it was honest. Okay, I was not a fan, but that’s okay, it’s the President of the United States – let’s all get together, thank you very much,” as the crowd applauded.
Leno further added, “My fear is that there will be ongoing disputes about the election results, but the fact remains that it was conducted professionally, there was no cheating, and everyone acknowledges its honesty. It truly is a great day for democracy.”
Co-host Natalie Morales initiated a conversation with Leno about his experiences as a late-night host during previous elections. Leno reminisced, “In my day, you kind of made fun of both sides. Now, it’s different as you’re expected to take a side.”
Leno, known for conducting the first interview with a sitting president on a late-night talk show with Barack Obama in 2009, recently portrayed legendary talk show host Ed Sullivan in the film “Midas Man.”
