Rainbow Dreams: A Celebration of Color and Light in Contemporary Art

A new book from Monacelli titled Rainbow Dreams is set to showcase a diverse range of artworks that explore the vibrant possibilities of color and light. Featuring over 200 installations, sculptures, paintings, and photographs from artists like Do Ho Suh, Kimsooja, Lauren Halsey, and more, this book is a colorful feast for the eyes. Bound in a smooth gradient that extends to the edges of the pages, Rainbow Dreams is not only a visual delight but also a playful object in itself.

Among the artists featured in Rainbow Dreams are familiar names like Nina Chanel Abney, Nick Cave, DRIFT, and Katharina Grosse, all of whom have been previously showcased on Colossal. The book is scheduled for release on April 2, and pre-orders are now available in the Colossal Shop.

One of the highlights of Rainbow Dreams is Kimsooja’s “To Breathe – A Mirror Woman” installation, which exudes a reflective and immersive quality. Another striking piece is Do Ho Suh’s “Passage/s,” a colorful and ethereal architectural installation that captivates viewers with its intricate details.

Gabriel Dawe’s “Plexus A1,” a mesmerizing display of colorful threads, and Shoplifter’s “Chromo Sapiens,” a vibrant fur installation, are also featured in the book, showcasing the diverse ways in which artists play with color and texture.

Lauren Halsey’s “auntie fawn on tha 6,” a rainbow fringe tapestry, and Ian Davenport’s “Poured Staircase,” a colorful flood installation, are just a few more examples of the stunning artworks included in Rainbow Dreams. Each piece in the book offers a unique perspective on the use of color and light in contemporary art.
