The first Series Match event, which brought together German, Latin American, and Spanish producers, showcased a lineup of high-powered series with impressive talent behind them. Organized by Iberseries & Platino Industria y Berlinale Series Market, the event featured projects from renowned figures such as Fernando Meirelles, Cesar Charlone, Angela Chaves, and Robert Krause.
One of the standout projects presented at the Series Match was “El Abuso,” a collaboration between Alterna Media, Federation Spain, and Ojo Films. Directed by Cesar Charlone and Fernando Meirelles, the series tells the true story of the 1971 jailbreak of political prisoners in Uruguay. Another intriguing project was “Assassins in Paradise,” a thriller about German hitmen in Bahia, Brazil, produced by Movioca and Ginga Stories.
“Callback,” from Funicular Films and Left Tackle Films, explores the dark side of the film industry as a director accuses her producer and lead actor of abuse. Meanwhile, “Monika – Victory and Death,” a collaboration between Zeitsprung Pictures, Mariawood Producciones, and Fine Time Filmproduktion, delves into the dramatic life of Monika Ertl, a guerrilla avenger with a personal vendetta.
SKP Entertainment presented “The Runaway,” a real-life story of a German heavy metal guitarist turned prison breakout artist, while Villano showcased “Scorched Earth,” a psychological noir drama set in southern Chile. Lastly, Boutique Filmes introduced “Seven Women,” a reimagining of Brazilian novel “Seven Women” which highlights the voices of female protagonists during Brazil’s Ragamuffin Revolution.
Overall, the Series Match event proved to be a platform for ambitious and thought-provoking series with international appeal. The diverse range of projects presented showcased the talent and creativity of producers from different regions, promising exciting new content for audiences to enjoy.
