Travis Kelce’s future with the Kansas City Chiefs remains uncertain as the tight end has yet to announce whether he will return for another season. Despite his legendary career with the Chiefs, one insider, ESPN’s Mike Tannenbaum, believes it may be time for the franchise to part ways with Kelce.

Tannenbaum emphasized the importance of projecting a player’s future performance rather than solely relying on past achievements. He pointed out that while Kelce is undoubtedly a first-ballot Hall of Famer, his 2025 season showed signs of decline, with decreasing receiving yards and receptions compared to previous years.

At 36 years old, Kelce’s future in the NFL has been a topic of discussion, especially after the Chiefs’ disappointing season and quarterback Patrick Mahomes recovering from ACL surgery. Kelce himself has hinted at retirement, contemplating whether he can continue to meet his own high standards on the field.

While Kelce considers his options, sources have revealed that discussions about retirement and potential career moves outside of football have been ongoing. One possibility is a partnership with Netflix as an exclusive broadcast sports correspondent, showcasing Kelce’s potential beyond the gridiron.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding Kelce’s future, the Chiefs’ front office, including team owner Clark Hunt, has expressed support for the veteran tight end. Hunt believes that Kelce still has what it takes to compete at a high level and has emphasized the importance of giving Kelce the time he needs to make a decision.

As the offseason progresses, all eyes will be on Travis Kelce as he weighs his options and decides whether to continue his illustrious career with the Kansas City Chiefs or embark on a new chapter outside of football. Stay tuned for updates on Kelce’s decision and the impact it will have on the Chiefs’ roster for the upcoming season.
