After being named as a contributor to CBS News, health influencer Peter Attia has made the decision to step away from his new position following his association with the Epstein files.
The longevity expert was one of several new contributors introduced by CBS News’ editor-in-chief Bari Weiss. Weiss, who has been implementing controversial changes at the network, featured Attia on her podcast “Honestly.” Despite pressure to sever ties with Attia, Weiss resisted, stating she did not want to give in to public opinion.
A spokesperson for Attia told JS that his contributor role at CBS News had not yet commenced significantly, prompting his decision to step back and prevent any distractions from the network’s important work. Attia expressed his well wishes for the network and its leadership.
In addition to leaving his role at CBS News, Attia also resigned as the chief science officer at David Protein earlier this month, according to CEO Peter Rahal said.

Attia acknowledged meeting Jeffrey Epstein in 2014, years after Epstein’s 2008 conviction. He regretted the interactions and admitted that his past actions could not be erased.
In his statement, Attia clarified that his involvement with Epstein did not involve any criminal activities or association with Epstein’s misconduct. He expressed remorse for the public disclosure of embarrassing emails and accepted responsibility for his actions.
