A tranquil afternoon at an Orange County beach took a terrifying turn when a local resident filmed a deadly rattlesnake slithering perilously close to his bare feet.

Television host Nicky Paris posted a video on his Instagram last week, capturing the snake near the shoreline at Crystal Cove in Newport Beach.

Paris recounted that after exiting the ocean, he felt a sensation on his toe and looked down to find a “huge” rattlesnake on the beach.

Beachgoers could be seen strolling along the shore as the snake glided through the sand.

“It crawled right out of the water, all the way past the beach, in between my sandals, on the beach. I literally was watching it, and it just went right back up into the hill,” Paris narrated while capturing the video.

Though not bitten by the snake, the discovery left the LA-based comedian shaken. He now cautions beach visitors to stay alert, as walking near the water’s edge may no longer be safe.

An aggressive rattlesnake recently hospitalized a woman last week and then returned to bite her pet while she was recovering.

The woman was tidying up her cat’s toys in her Los Angeles County backyard when the rattlesnake bit her index finger. A day later, the same snake returned and bit her cat, Magic.

Earlier this month, a family in Calabasas discovered a rattlesnake in their backyard where their children play.

Hugo Will, a Los Angeles-based cinematographer who has worked alongside industry greats such as director Ted Kotcheff, editor Thom Noble, and director James Fargo, shared a video of the unsettling find: the snake was concealed among his children’s scattered toys.
