Alkane Resources, a leading mining company, has recently announced significant findings from its latest exploration activities at the Tomingley Gold Operations in New South Wales, Australia. The company has been focusing on underground drilling to expand resources at the site, with a particular emphasis on the Roswell Deposit and nearby prospects like El Paso.
The Tomingley Gold Mine, operational since 2014, consists of both open-pit and underground mining operations. It boasts a processing facility capable of handling one million tonnes per annum. Situated near Tomingley village, approximately 50km south-west of Dubbo in central-west NSW, the mine is managed by Tomingley Gold Operations, a subsidiary of Alkane Resources.
Recent drilling efforts have targeted a seismic reflector beneath the Roswell Deposit, with one hole, RWD061, being extended to a depth of 1,392m. This extension revealed gold-arsenic-enriched hydrothermal breccias and veining, aiming to enhance confidence in the inferred resources category.
The Roswell underground resources are estimated at 5.5 million tonnes with a grading of 2.6 grams per tonne gold, equivalent to approximately 476,000oz of gold. A recent drilling program focused on the Western Monzodiorite domain within Roswell, completing 21 drill-holes over 4,019m and confirming multiple zones of high-grade gold.
Exploration drilling at the El Paso and Westray prospects involved seven diamond core drill-holes and one reverse circulation drill-hole, intersecting quartz veining accompanied by gold-arsenic mineralization within the Mingelo Volcanic stratigraphy.
Significant assay results have been reported from various drilling activities. At the Roswell seismic target, hole RWD061 showed promising grades, including intervals of 8.7m at 1.15g/t gold, 0.3m at 11.4g/t, and 2m at 5.90g/t. In the Roswell Western Monzodiorite underground drilling, hole ROSUG657D intercepted high grades of 31g/t over 5.9m, with a section of 2.1m at 78.4g/t.
At the El Paso prospect, drill-hole EPD020 recorded an intersection of 17m grading 4.02g/t, including a high-grade section of 0.5m at 77.5g/t. Alkane’s managing director and CEO, Nic Earner, expressed excitement about the ongoing exploration efforts at Tomingley, highlighting the potential for resource expansion across the mine site.
In August 2025, the Supreme Court of British Columbia approved Alkane Resources’ plan to acquire all issued and outstanding common shares of Mandalay Resources. This development signifies Alkane’s commitment to growth and further solidifies its position in the mining industry.
