U.S. Forged Rings (USFR) has recently announced its plans to establish a new factory in North Carolina, marking a significant investment of $875 million. This move is expected to create up to 625 jobs in the region. The company specializes in manufacturing large steel components, including critical service fabrications, specialty tubulars, and forgings used in various industries such as power generation, industrial components, marine, mining, defense, and Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) markets.

USFR is set to undertake the project in three phases, with the first two phases alone expected to add 625 jobs to the local economy. The manufacturing facility will be strategically located next to Nucor Steel’s processing plant, forming a crucial supply chain partnership. Situated along the Chowan River, the facility will have access to the Albemarle Sound and the Atlantic Ocean, facilitating transportation and distribution.

Giacomo Sozzi, the President and CEO of USFR, expressed enthusiasm about the investment, stating that it will bring high-paying jobs back to America, reduce dependence on foreign suppliers, and enhance the resilience of the U.S. economy. This project is anticipated to be the largest in the economic development history of Hertford County, as per data from the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina.

Founded in March 2022, USFR is a privately owned business and is a part of the Sozzi family’s group of companies. The company has collaborated with several key partners for this project, including the North Carolina Department of Commerce, the North Carolina General Assembly, North Carolina Department of Transportation, North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality, and various other entities involved in the state’s economic development.
