Oracle Data Center Issue Causes Trouble for TikTok Users in the U.S.
Some TikTok users in the U.S. are currently facing challenges while using the app, and the company has identified the issue as stemming from a problem with an Oracle data center.
According to a statement on X, TikTok mentioned that creators might experience delays in posting their content as Oracle works on resolving the issue.
Reports from users on Downdetector indicate that the problem has been persisting since before 9 a.m. ET. Oracle’s own update on X confirms that the outage started around the same time.
Oracle is a part of an investor group that holds an 80% stake in the TikTok USDS Joint Venture. This joint venture was established to adhere to a national security law that mandated the Chinese company ByteDance to divest its American TikTok business or face a ban in the United States.
An issue with an Oracle data center is impacting some parts of the TikTok U.S. user experience. Creators may temporarily experience lags in posting content while Oracle works to resolve the issue. We appreciate your patience and understanding and will keep you updated. https://t.co/ex7S4vM9yU

Oracle has been responsible for providing cloud services and managing user data for TikTok even before the formation of the TikTok USDS Joint Venture. Following the acquisition, Oracle-related issues have now led to two significant TikTok outages.
Shortly after the completion of the sale in January, TikTok encountered a similar outage, which was attributed to a winter storm affecting a key Oracle data center.
As of now, Oracle has not pinpointed the exact cause of the current outage affecting TikTok users in the U.S.
