A recent interview has shed light on the tragic accident that claimed the life of “Deadliest Catch” deckhand Todd Meadows. According to Meadows’ bunkmate, Trey John Green III, the incident was captured on camera by the crew of the Aleutian Lady fishing vessel.
Green revealed to Us Weekly, “Discovery is done filming, but there was a producer and a deck cam guy on the boat for the past two months filming for Season 22 of the show. It was filmed, unfortunately.” He went on to explain that there is a deck cam onboard the vessel that records everything 24/7, including the events leading up to Meadows’ untimely death.
As previously reported, Meadows fell overboard while crabbing off the coast of Alaska on February 25. Despite efforts to resuscitate him, he was unable to be revived. Green expressed that the crew did everything they could to save him, but the challenging conditions at sea made the rescue operation extremely difficult.
In response to the tragedy, a spokesperson for the Discovery Channel expressed their condolences, stating, “We are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Todd Meadows. This is a devastating loss, and our hearts are with his loved ones, his crewmates, and the entire fishing community during this incredibly difficult time.”
It remains unclear whether Discovery will choose to air the footage of Meadows’ accident. The U.S. Coast Guard is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his death and the events leading up to the tragic incident.
