The disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, mother of “Today” co-host Savannah Guthrie, has left the Tucson community in shock. A growing memorial outside her home has become a place for visitors to pay their respects and leave tokens of remembrance. However, questions have arisen about whether investigators are monitoring the site for any potential leads.
Betsy Brantner Smith, spokesperson for the National Police Association, expressed concerns about the lack of visible law enforcement presence at the memorial. She suggested that detectives may be monitoring the area discreetly to gather information without drawing attention.
Authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or persons of interest in the case. Haunting Nest doorbell camera footage captured a masked man on Nancy Guthrie’s front steps around the time of her abduction, but his identity remains unknown.
Brantner Smith highlighted the possibility of a suspect returning to the memorial site, either out of obsession with Savannah Guthrie or a desire for notoriety. She emphasized the importance of law enforcement monitoring the area for any suspicious activity that could provide valuable clues in the investigation.
Savannah Guthrie, along with her sister Annie and brother-in-law Tommaso Cioni, visited the memorial to pay their respects and urge the public to come forward with any information. A reward of over $1 million has been offered for information leading to Nancy’s recovery, but it has yet to be claimed.
As the community continues to mourn and seek answers, the search for Nancy Guthrie remains ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI. The case continues to grip the hearts of many as they hope for a resolution to this heartbreaking mystery.
