Riyadh, Saudi Arabia:

The Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, strongly criticized Israel for what he described as a “genocide” against the Palestinian people during a summit of Muslim and Arab leaders on Monday.

Speaking at an Arab Islamic summit, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman reiterated Saudi Arabia’s condemnation of Israel’s actions and called for the international community to intervene to stop the violence and respect Iran’s sovereignty.

He also reiterated the kingdom’s stance on not recognizing Israel until a Palestinian state is established.

Efforts to normalize relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel were halted following an attack by Hamas militants from Gaza on Israel and the subsequent retaliation.

During a press conference at the summit, Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit mentioned the possibility of freezing Israel’s membership in the U.N. General Assembly, a decision that could be made by the General Assembly itself.

The summit’s concluding statement called for a ban on weapons exports to Israel and urged the International Criminal Court to issue arrest warrants for Israeli civilian and military officials.

Israel’s military actions in Gaza have led to widespread casualties, displacement, and allegations of genocide.
