On Saturday in Chicago, U.S. Border Patrol agents shot an armed woman after a violent mob attempted to assault them.

The incident occurred while agents were on their routine patrol near 39th Place and South Kedzie Avenue, where they were surrounded by ten cars and faced attacks that included being rammed by vehicles, as stated by the Department of Homeland Security.

According to DHS, “When the officers exited their vehicle, a suspect attempted to run them over, prompting the officers to fire in defense.” The situation was described as “evolving,” with FBI agents present at the scene.

The shooter, who is a U.S. citizen, was armed with a semi-automatic firearm, as reported by department spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin.

The woman was previously known to authorities for allegedly exposing the identities of agents and inciting violence against them, as McLaughlin noted.

“The armed woman had been mentioned in a CBP intelligence bulletin last week concerning doxing agents and urging people online, ‘Hey to all my gang let’s f–k those motherf—ers up, don’t let them take anyone,’” McLaughlin stated on X.

In light of the incident, more federal agents will be dispatched, as Homelands Secretary Kristi Noem indicated on X.

“Today in Chicago, our courageous law enforcement officers were attacked—they were rammed and surrounded by ten vehicles, with one attacker wielding a semi-automatic weapon. I am sending additional special operations to manage the situation. Reinforcements are en route,” she commented.

“If you encounter a law enforcement officer today, please express your gratitude,” Noem added.

The female suspect, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, managed to drive herself to a hospital for treatment of her injuries, according to McLaughlin.

A representative from the Chicago Fire Department informed the Chicago Sun-Times that the woman was located and taken to a local hospital where she is in stable condition.

The exact time and place of the shooting have yet to be confirmed.

“Fortunately, none of the law enforcement officers sustained severe injuries during the attack,” McLaughlin remarked, criticizing Illinois Governor Pritzker for not assisting in the aftermath of the shooting.

McLaughlin criticized Illinois Governor JB Pritzker for not aiding with the aftermath of the shooting, adding that “The Chicago Police Department is vacating the scene and neglecting to help secure the area. The crowd is swelling, and we are mobilizing special operations to mitigate it.”

A mob gathered in protest near the location of the shooting, which led to federal agents deploying tear gas in response, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

This violent episode follows the recent launch of “Operation Midway Blitz” by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, aimed at targeting “criminal illegal aliens who have come to Chicago and Illinois, believing they are shielded by Governor Pritzker’s sanctuary policies which permit them to act with impunity,” said the department in a statement shared via X.

Following the incident, numerous protests have formed outside the ICE processing facility in the same vicinity where the shooting took place.

Reports indicate that over a dozen demonstrators were arrested nearby on Friday, as Fox News covered.

Protesters have increasingly used vehicles aggressively against ICE agents in Chicago, with DHS noting that two attacks on agents occurred merely days prior.

On Wednesday, “criminal illegal aliens employed their vehicles in calculated efforts to ram and injure officers performing their sworn duties in enforcing immigration laws” during incidents in Bensenville, Ill., and another site in Norridge, Ill., as stated by the department, emphasizing that no law enforcement personnel were fatalities in these episodes.

“This is the outcome of the rhetoric promoted by Governor Pritzker, Mayor Brandon Johnson, and other sanctuary advocates who vilify ICE and incite illegal aliens to resist lawful enforcement,” McLaughlin asserted in the wake of these events.

On Saturday, the spokeswoman reiterated that such violent actions will carry serious ramifications.

“Demonizing ICE by constantly comparing them to the Nazi Gestapo, secret police, and slave patrols has real consequences,” she stated.

“These men and women in ICE and CBP are families—they are fathers, mothers, sons, and daughters striving to secure our communities. Like everyone else, they seek to return home safely to their families each night. The ongoing violence and dehumanization of these officers, who are simply executing their duties, must cease. We stand united in prayers for our law enforcement personnel and their families,” McLaughlin concluded.
