Harvey Weinstein reveals that prison life has been harsh, recounting a brutal experience that left him bloodied on the floor. According to Weinstein, the incident occurred at NYC’s Rikers Island when he was attacked after asking another inmate if he was done using the phone.

In a candid interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Weinstein described how he was punched in the face, leading to a bloody aftermath. Despite being asked by guards, Weinstein chose not to reveal the attacker, citing the unspoken rule of not snitching in prison as the “law of the jungle.”

Weinstein’s spokesperson, Juda Engelmayer, disclosed that besides the recent physical altercation, Weinstein is also battling various health issues including spinal stenosis, blood cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, and vision loss. He is currently wheelchair-bound and requires medical attention.

Engelmayer further mentioned that Weinstein’s prison consultant, Craig Rothfeld, is working to ensure that Weinstein receives the necessary medications and treatment at Rikers. However, there are concerns about his well-being during the frequent transfers between court and jail, with Engelmayer emphasizing the importance of proper care to sustain Weinstein’s health.

The disgraced former film producer, now 73, is currently serving a 16-year sentence after being convicted of rape and other charges in L.A. in December 2022. He also faces another rape trial in New York following the overturning of his 2020 conviction and 23-year sentence in 2024.

Despite his legal battles, Weinstein maintains his innocence, acknowledging his past behavior of arrogance and abuse of power but asserting that he is the true victim in the unfolding saga.

Life in prison is a stark contrast to Weinstein’s former glamorous lifestyle, with him now spending 23 hours a day confined to his cell and limited interactions with guards and medical staff. The road ahead for Weinstein appears challenging, with no immediate prospects of release.
