Juleanna Glover’s Unlikely Correspondence with Jeffrey Epstein: A Political Paradox

Juleanna Glover, a prominent Washington strategist, made headlines during Donald Trump’s first term by advocating for a third-party presidential candidate, yearning for a “morally lucid” leader reminiscent of Abraham Lincoln. However, her public stance contrasts sharply with her private dealings, particularly her email exchanges with the notorious Jeffrey Epstein—a man she corresponded with a decade after his conviction for child prostitution.

In her August 2018 emails to a group of “third party thinkers,” which she forwarded to Epstein via his now-infamous email address, Glover proposed an array of unconventional political ticket combinations. Names like former Facebook executive Sheryl Sandberg, Republican governors Larry Hogan and Nikki Haley, and Microsoft mogul Bill Gates—who also had ties to Epstein—filled her list. Glover mused over pairings such as “Biden/Romney? Bill Gates/Hogan?” among others, showcasing a peculiar blend of political aspirations.

This correspondence with Epstein was just a fragment of a broader professional relationship that lasted over a year, revealing how many influential figures interacted with Epstein as if he were merely a wealthy associate rather than a convicted sex offender. Glover, a long-standing figure within anti-Trump circles, maintained that her engagement with Epstein was solely to uncover damaging information about Trump’s re-election bid.

Despite her assertions, there are no documented emails where Glover solicited Trump-related information from Epstein. Instead, she referred POLITICO to a fellow Never-Trumper for validation, while another source involved in her interactions claimed ignorance of her approach. Furthermore, Glover acknowledged that she had sought Epstein’s assistance with a business matter concerning her then-client Elon Musk and his dealings with Saudi Arabia, which further complicates her narrative.

In a bid to rehabilitate Epstein’s image, Glover attempted to position him as a supporter of democracy by arranging a meeting with the head of Freedom House in 2017. Interestingly, Epstein reciprocated Glover’s advice by offering suggestions on how to navigate media inquiries, including how Musk should address allegations regarding his drug use.

An examination of Glover and Epstein’s exchanges, amounting to dozens of emails and multiple meetings, highlights the extensive reach of Epstein’s connections across the political landscape. Her interactions were characterized as a limited exchange of ideas and logistics—31 emails in total, primarily focused on Tesla and third-party politics, with Glover arguing that Epstein was never her client and that she derived no tangible benefit from him.

Glover’s political background as a former aide in the George W. Bush administration and an advisor to John McCain has allowed her to cultivate a wide network in D.C. Her home serves as a social hub for various political and media figures, further augmenting her influence and connections.

‘Captive’ to Elon Musk

Glover’s introduction to Epstein came through journalist Michael Wolff, who suggested she meet Epstein due to his public discussions about Trump. In her own words, Glover claimed, “I rolled the dice” by meeting with Epstein, believing her interactions might yield insights into Trump. She noted that she directed Epstein towards top investigative journalists, including Jim Stewart from the New York Times, with whom Epstein later discussed writing his book.

During this period, Musk’s efforts to take Tesla private were under scrutiny from the SEC, necessitating extensive communication management. Wolff’s emails suggested that Glover was “captive” to Musk, emphasizing her value as a strategic communicator in the anti-Trump landscape.

Glover’s relationship with Epstein revealed her attempts to use his connections to help Musk secure funding from sovereign wealth funds. However, she later admitted that her attempts did not yield any significant engagement with Saudi officials.

A Pro-Democracy Rehabilitation Attempt

Glover’s firm, Ridgely Walsh, specializes in “bespoke public affairs services,” which she leveraged to connect Epstein with pro-democracy organizations seeking funding. After their first meeting, Epstein expressed interest in supporting such initiatives, which he believed might improve his public image following his 2008 conviction. Glover’s efforts to connect Epstein with Freedom House were driven by a genuine belief in the potential of these organizations to contribute positively to democracy, despite the ethical implications of associating with Epstein.

Though Glover believed these organizations could benefit from Epstein’s financial backing, she later expressed regret for connecting a reputable institution with someone who ultimately sought to manipulate his image.

A Cautionary Note on Steve Bannon

Conflicts emerged within Glover’s relationship with Epstein, particularly regarding his connection to Steve Bannon—a conservative figure whose influence raised alarms for Glover. In 2018, she warned Epstein against associating with Bannon, suggesting that his ulterior motives could cause harm. Glover’s caution was rooted in her perception of Bannon’s manipulative nature, showing her awareness of the darker aspects of political maneuvering.

In a final email exchange in March 2019, shortly before Epstein’s death, Glover received a link to a letter defending Epstein from his legal team, but she chose not to respond. Their complex relationship serves as a testament to the intricate web of political alliances and ethical dilemmas that permeate the modern political landscape.
