David Morse, known for his work in “We Were Liars,” has officially joined the cast of the Paramount+ drama series “Mayor of Kingstown.” Morse will be starring alongside Jeremy Renner and Edie Falco in the Taylor Sheridan-produced show. The production for Season 5, which has been announced as the final season of the series, has already begun.
In the upcoming season, Morse will portray the character of Russell Hardy, an experienced FBI agent sent to Kingstown. The eight-episode final season will also feature Laura Benanti, Hugh Dillon, Taylor Handley, Tobi Bamtefa, and Derek Webster. Additionally, returning cast members include Necar Zadegan, Nichole Galicia, and Lennie James.
The logline for Season 5 sets the stage for intense drama as it follows the aftermath of Tracy’s murder and the retaliation taken by Mike (Renner) and Kyle (Taylor Handley) against Callahan. Agent Russell Hardy’s arrival in Kingstown to track down Callahan threatens to expose all of Mike’s hidden truths and disrupt the fragile power balance in the town.
David Morse’s impressive list of credits includes projects like “The Last Thing He Told Me,” “The Chair,” “The Good Lord Bird,” and “The Morning Show.” In film, he has appeared in notable movies such as “The Green Mile,” “16 Blocks,” and “The Hurt Locker.” Morse has received Emmy nominations for his work in “House” and “John Adams,” as well as Tony Award nominations for his performances on Broadway.
“Mayor of Kingstown” was co-created by Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon and is produced by Paramount Television Studios, 101 Studios, and Bosque Ranch Productions. The executive producers of the series include Sheridan, Dillon, Renner, Antoine Fuqua, and others. Dave Erickson serves as the showrunner for the show.
