Timothee Chalamet, 30, was in the running for an Oscar for his role in Marty Supreme, but the award went to Jordan, who was visibly surprised as he accepted it for his dual roles in Sinners. Overwhelmed with emotion, Jordan wiped away tears while receiving the award from Adrien Brody, the previous year’s winner.
After the ceremony, Travis Scott, who has two children, Stormi, 8, and Aire, 4, with Kylie Jenner, shared a snapshot of Jordan’s tearful acceptance on his Instagram Stories.
Social media users quickly analyzed Scott’s post, speculating that it was less about celebrating Jordan and more about mocking Chalamet. Reactions poured in on various platforms, with one user declaring, “Travis Scott is a professional hater. I love it.” Another remarked humorously, “Timothee Chalamet looks miserable, and Travis Scott was shading him and is there too… Help this man.” Some found the situation amusing, with a fan pointing out, “Okay, please, this is so iconic. Because tell me when was the last time Travis Scott [cared] about the Oscars?”
However, not everyone was entertained by the perceived slight. One critic commented, “Bro needs to move on, hating on the future stepdad of your kids is petty.” Further reactions included comments like, “Travis Scott posting this is so funny,” and “I peeped that s— on my Insta feed. Bro still p—ed Chalamet snatched his girl up.” Another added, “He’s so happy Timmy did not win.”
Scott and Jenner began dating in 2017 and had an on-and-off relationship until their split in 2020. Jenner later started a relationship with Chalamet, which captured media attention due to its unexpected nature. Scott has previously appeared to allude to Chalamet in his music. In his track Meltdown, he seemingly references Chalamet’s role in Wonka, which some fans interpreted as a dig at the Oscar nominee.
Amidst the online discussions, Scott risked encountering Chalamet later that evening. He attended the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty, where Jenner and Chalamet were seen showing affection and spending time together.
